Wageningen UR has developed an application that makes it possible to send in real-time data from machines in the field to either a website or database. This technique is open-source and works brand independent. So, data from all kind of machines and tractors can be send to the user. One might think of data like fuel consumption, yield data and location data for logistic purposes.
The application consists of a Raspberry Pi, an open-source micro-computer that is connected with a 3G USB internet dongle. With the 3G dongle the system is linked to to the mobile internet network, so that wherever you are data can be send and received. A D-GPS antenna that is connected with USB takes care of location determination with an accuracy of 50 cm. The application can be enlarged with other receivers (RTK-GPS) and data streams via plug and play.
The application is suitable for more kinds of practices.
